Personal Trainer
(Occupational Certificate)

What can you do with this certificate?
This certificate will prepare you to take one of several nationally recognized personal training exams. You can be-come a certified personal trainer in the health/industry or become self-employed in health/fitness training and con-sultation.

What will you learn in this program?
This program is based on the guidelines of the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
It will provide students with a foundation in exercise science, nutrition, exercise screening and evaluation, principles and methods of exercise training, injury prevention, exercise program design and legal issues related to the fitness industry.

What kinds of classes can you look forward to?

Exercise Science
Overview of various systems of the body and how they interact to help adapt to exercise and movement.

Sports Injury Management
Introduction to principles and techniques of preventing, treating, and rehabilitating sports related injuries.

Personal Nutrition
Designed to provide knowledge to help make wise food choices Emphasis is placed on U.S. Dietary Guidelines.

Principle and Methods of Fitness Training
Involves interpretation and evaluation of results for individualized programs. Designed for muscular strength, endur-ance and flexibility.

How long will it take to complete this certificate?
This 30 credit certificate can be completed in three semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
