Accounting Certificate

What can you do with this certificate?

Graduates will focus on their vocational training with the program being designed to deliver the necessary tools to equip the student in obtaining an entry level position within the field of accounting.

Graduates will be equipped with the essential skills required of an entry level employee in the accounting industry.  The required major and other departmental (business) courses are designed to meet the growing demand for competent accounting personnel in both the private and public sectors.

What will you learn in this program?

Students in this program will master the basic accounting principles necessary to work in the accounting field.  On top of accounting skills, critical thinking and problem solving training received through this program give graduates the skills and confidence needed to succeed in this field.

What kinds of classes can you look forward to in this program?

Career Accounting 1

This course provides the student with a sound basic knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures and serves as a prerequisite course for many of the other accounting courses that follow.

Computerized Accounting

This course applies accounting principles using a personal computer.  Professional accounting software will be used to simulate the setup of accounting books, enter daily transactions, and prepare financial statements for small businesses.

Income Tax Procedures

Information and procedures needed to accurately prepare personal tax returns under both federal and Arizona tax statutes.

Introduction to Payroll Accounting

This course introduces the student to the various aspects of payroll, including the applicable elements of the Fair Labor Standards Act that affect payroll operations and employment practices.

How long will it take to complete this certificate?

Taking classes full time, you can complete this 36-credit certificate in one full year by attending the fall, spring, and summer sessions.
