You must register for Arizona Western College through the admission office before you begin the process of applying for the Massage Therapy Program.
This two semester program begins every fall semester (August) and ends in the spring (May). In order to be eligible to sign up for LMT classes in the fall, you must go through the program application process outlined below.
- Contact the Massage Therapy Program office 317-7529 and ask for an application packet to be mailed to you. Or you can download a packet from the AWC website at www.azwestern.edu. This packet will have all the information you will need to become familiar with the Massage Therapy Program and the requirements for program participation.
2. Visit the AWC library: read the Massage Therapy Student Guide, view short video about the profession, read the Massage Therapy Program Information Package (ask at the front counter in the library to check out for in-library use only).
3. Fill out the application for the massage therapy program. The application is available in the application packet or you can download it from the AWC website at www.azwestern.edu.
4. Turn in your application at the office of Career & Technical Education – BA 222 or the Center For Teaching Effectiveness – LR 086. Applications Accepted Monday – Thursday, 9 AM to 3 PM.
You must read at a college level (a CPT-R score of 65 - 70) and you must be eligible for Math 105 or higher (a score of 25 – 60) to meet admission levels.
5. Once your application and testing scores are reviewed and verified by the Massage Therapy Program office, you will be notified of your interview date/time by postal mail within two weeks of the completion of your testing. The final step is the personal interview (by appointment only) with Program Advisory Committee members and faculty. Interviews will be held each month.
6. Applications will be accepted at any time, but interviews will be held once each month from January to May each year.
7. Notification of acceptance or denial of program admission will be sent by postal mail after the interviews are complete. Please no phone calls to the program office. Your admission letter will include your health requirements package. All health requirement deadlines MUST be met, with no exceptions. Students will receive signed registration form allowing them to enroll for required major courses.
8. Orientation for the program will be in August, the Wednesday before fall semester classes begin... Orientation is mandatory and will be considered your first class meeting.
If you want to start taking classes in the spring semester, you can take any of the electives, BIO 160, LMT 105 or WED 110 to get started on your program requirements.
