HLS Portfolio Course Goal:

The goal of the HLS -105 Portfolio Course is to help students assemble a portfolio to organize and demonstrate mastery of work and related materials that depicts a student’s accomplishment and achievements. In the era of performance assessment related to the monitoring of students mastery of a core curriculum, the development of a portfolio reveal skills and knowledge which support instructional objectives. The systematic collection of work for the student’s portfolio includes submission of a professional resume, a case study involving an aspect in the criminal justice system, the student’s criminal justice philosophy and a five year plan describing continuity in their career and educational plans. Students become proficient in the use of the on-line learning management system, while demonstrating the learning outcomes for this course.
