Adult Education
Recognizing that basic education skills are the foundation for a skilled workforce and thriving economy, the college has established partnerships and collaborations with area school districts and organizations for the delivery and support of Adult Education classes and related services such as:
- General Education Development (GED) preparation classes taught in English and Spanish
- GED Testing
- English Language Acquisition (ELA) instruction which provides literacy and language education to individuals whose primary language is not English.
- Citizenship preparation classes
- Workforce programs which bring together the needs of business and industry with individuals to meet their mutual needs for skills in the workplace.
- Family Literacy & Migrant Even Start programs which bring parents and children together to foster an increased appreciation for education and to facilitate the basic skills of both parents and children.

MLK Jr. Neighborhood Center
In partnership with the City of Yuma and with prior assistance from the HUD Office of the University Partnerships, the college maintains an office, information center, and computer lab in the Martin Luther King Jr. Neighborhood Center. Conveniently located in northwestern Yuma in the Carver neighborhood, computer literacy and CDA Certification classes are held at the Center. Pre-arranged placement testing for AWC admission is available.
