Social Science

The Social Science Division provides dynamic educational opportunities to a diverse population, emphasizing knowledge, skills and personal enrichment and empowering students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

FamilyStudies

Arizona Western College offers an Associate in Arts degree in FamilyStudies as well as a credential certificate in Family Development.

History

The history major is offered for those students who would like to continue, at the university level, to pursue history as a teaching or research career or as an adjunct discipline to other majors.

Philosophy

The study of Philosophy has as its primary aim, the seeking of wisdom and understanding with regard to some of the most profound topics that have ever been contemplatedby mankind. This program constitutes an excellent liberal arts foundation for students planning to pursue university studies in philosophy, law, education, communications, and art, amongothers.

Political Science

Political science is the study of governments, politics, and social ideologies. This program is not only for students who wish to become political scientists, but is also an excellent preparation for pre-law.

Psychology/Sociology

This combined major in the behavioral sciences allows students continuing at the university to major in either field. Also, students considering a career in social work or other human services can use this program as a solid preparation for those careers.
