1. What is Blackboard

Blackboard is software that instructors at AWC use to supplement regular classroom instruction and to teach online courses. It offers a user-friendly environment where students can:

  • Read announcements from the instructor
  • View course information like syllabi and class notes
  • Take quizzes online
  • Email the instructor or classmates
  • Exchange computer files with the instructor
  • Read and post messages on a bulletin board
  • Chat with the instructor, classmates, and more!

2. How do I access Blackboard

You can access Blackboard from any computer that is connected to the World Wide Web and has a recent web browser. Point your browser to AWC homepage  and click on the "Blackboard Login" graphic. You can also access Blackboard by typing directly into your browser http://blackboard.azwestern.edu

3. Which web browsers does Blackboard support

Blackboard works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.0 or higher and Netscape Navigator v4.7 or 7.0 or higher. Mac users should use the Safari web browser.

Please do not use AOL's built-in browser or the Opera web browser. For the complete list of supported web browsers click here

4. What is my username/password

Your Blackboard username is the same as your TORO email id (the part before the '@toro.azwestern.edu'). Your Blackboard password is the same as your TORO email password. Don't have a TORO account Click Here!

5. What if I forgot my password

If you have forgotten your password you can reset your password by visiting the AWC self service account managment page:  SSRPM.   If you still need assistance, contact AWC's Help Desk by calling 928.317.5892 OR by e-mailing AWC'S Help Desk: helpdesk@azwestern.edu.

6. My username and password don't work. What do I do

Please see question #4 to make sure you're using the right username/password. If you just registered for a course within the last 24 hours, please wait. It can take up to 24 hours before your registration information gets transferred into Blackboard.

If you still need assistance, contact AWC's Help Desk by calling 928.317.5892 OR by e-mailing AWC'S Help Desk: helpdesk@azwestern.edu.

7. How do I change my password

To change your password, go the Self-Service Reset Password Management (SSRPM) site and follow the on-screen instructions.  If you still need assistance, contact AWC's Help Desk by calling 928.317.5892 OR by e-mailing AWC'S Help Desk: helpdesk@azwestern.edu.

8. How do I logout of my Blackboard session

To keep your personal information confidential, please remember to click on the logout button, found at the top of the Blackboard window, and close your web browser when you are finished accessing Blackboard.

9. Why aren't my courses showing up

If the semester has not yet begun, your instructor may not have made the course available, in which case you won't be able to see it. If the semester has begun and you still can't see your course(s), contact the Help Desk.

10. How do I get into my Blackboard course

In your browsers address bar enter the Blackboard website address http://blackboard.azwestern.edu. Once at the site it is recommended that you add this address to your Internet Explorer favorites. Click anywhere on the 'Blackboard Login' graphic. Once at the Blackboard Login screen, login with your username and password. After logging in you will be presented with the "AWConline" screen. From here find the "My Courses" window on right side of screen for links to the course(s) you have been enrolled in by your professors. Click on the course you wish to access and you're in!

11. Why am I still listed in a course from last semester

If you took a course in a previous semester that used Blackboard, but you are still seeing the course listed when you log into your account, you are encouraged to contact the instructor of that course and ask them to remove you from the course or make the course unavailable. Once you are enrolled in a Blackboard course, only the instructor for the course can remove you.

12. How do I print in Blackboard

Printing in Blackboard is the same as printing on other Internet sites. Since Blackboard uses frames to divide up the screen you need to first click the area of the page that you want to be printed. Rather than clicking on the print icon on the browser tool bar, you have more control over what you print by choosing File>Print from the browsers menu bar. From there you can make selections about what you want to print (e.g. all pages, one page, a range of pages).

13. How do I find my grades in Blackboard

If your instructor is using Blackboard to post your grades they can be viewed by logging into Blackboard and selecting the "View Grades" link under the "Tools" menu found on the AWConline page. Note: Grades displayed in Blackboard may not be your official final grade. Official grades may be found in WebAdvisor at the end of the term.

14. I'm having trouble with WebAdvisor. What do I do?

Contact AWC's Help Desk by calling 928.317.5892 OR by e-mailing AWC'S Help Desk: helpdesk@azwestern.edu.
