Distance Education Office

The Distance Education Office (DEO) functions as a one-stop shop to provide a broad range of information and support for distance learners, staff, and faculty. The DEO is a central point of contact for all your distance learning needs. When you don't know where to go, contact the DEO...we're glad to help.

Mission Statement

In order to enhance lifelong learning, the Office of Distance Education at Arizona Western College, by utilizing appropriate delivery technologies and resources, provides its student constituency with affordable and accessible high quality education.

Interactive Television Network (ITN)

ITN refers to all courses offered via television, cable, microwave, direct broadcast satellite (DBS), common carrier or videotape throughout the state. Interactive instructional television uses two-way audio/video communications to link the classroom with selected classrooms on the Arizona Western College campus and at other statewide sites. Students at all campuses are taught simultaneously. They can ask questions and interact with their professor or with other classmates, as if all students were together at one site. These course delivery methods offer alternatives to the fixed schedule, place, program, and structure of traditional classroom-based education. During an ITN class, each student's voice, physical presence, and participation in classroom activities will be transmitted to distance learning sites. By registering for an interactive instructional television class, students agree that the transmission of their voice, presence, and participation in such classes will not be a violation of personal rights and each student hereby releases any claim for the use of such for the duration of the class.
