Furthermore, the Faculty Professional Development Committee (FPDC) develops programs and activities for faculty, which lead to professional growth and career enhancement. It addresses such issues as renewal, incentives for research and new projects, orientation and mentoring, evaluation and professional growth programs. The FPDC also serves in an advisory capacity to the Center for Teaching Effectiveness. Committee recommendations are submitted to the Dean of Instruction.
The Faculty Professional Development Committee is responsible for the planning of the annual Faculty Professional Development Day (FPDD) held in February. The FPDD is a daylong event devoted to the exchange of ideas related to teaching. The FPDD includes a morning keynote address from a nationally recognized faculty and concurrent breakout sessions devoted to teaching/learning and the acquisition of technology skills.
