SALARY:   $35, 062 plus excellent fringe benefits.


QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Bachelorís degree with two years of experience working with low income and/or academically disadvantaged, assessment experience, demonstrated experience working with students, preferably low income, academically disadvantaged populations, strong communication and organizational skills. Requires good driving record with no major driving fractions. Employment offer contingent upon driving record approval. Preferred: Master degree in counseling or related field, background in counseling, career development, financial aid, academic advising, teaching experience and fluency in Spanish. NOTE: 10 Month Position/Grant Funded-Per these grants: Preference is given to persons who have overcome disadvantaged backgrounds. Grants are funded through mid-2017. TYPICAL DUTIES:   Assesses and identifies program participants and meets individually and in groups, with participants on a regular basis to provide academic advisement, information, assistance related to successful school completion and post-secondary entry/re-entry.

Develops and provides skills workshops for participants, potential participants and parents.

Assists participants with exploration, goal setting, planning and follow through. Monitors participants' progress. Maintains the confidentiality of participants on a regular basis to provide school completion and post-secondary entry/re-entry.

Maintains accurate up-to-date student records, including documentation of eligibility, documentation of student academic records, documentation of contacts, exit information, follow-up information, etc. Submits records on a timely basis.

Prepares and maintains accurate records, including travel forms, summaries, time and commitment forms, time sheets, etc. Supplies completed records with the monthly report.

Supervises and coordinates the student tutors and mentors at the assigned target schools. Conducts and documents regular tutor and mentor training meetings.

Plans and coordinates college visitations, cultural activities, workshops and events for students, teachers, parents and the community.

Oversees the use of academic tutoring and career inventory instruments.

Performs other duties as assigned.
