SALARY:   $38,569 plus excellent fringe benefits.


QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field, three years of experience in student services, advisement or other higher education related field. Strong communication skills, both written and oral presentation skills, must possess a valid Arizona Driverís License, successfully pass a DMV background check and candidate must successfully pass a military installation background check for gate access. Preferred: Master's degree in student services, counseling, educational leadership or related field. Experience with Veteran Services. A military veteran.


TYPICAL DUTIES:   Serves as the lead Veteran School Certifying Official. Monitoring and assisting veteran work-study with enrollment certifications, notices of change of enrollment and periodic verifications of pursuit of training. Responsible for fulfilling VA reporting requirements. Collaborates with other student services departments to assist the veteran community with college processes.
Provides collaboration support for academic advising and retention strategies; Assists in the development of Individual Educational Plans. Reviews and evaluates academic and military transcripts, verifying credit transfer, degree track, and graduation requirements for veteran students.
Supervises new veteran student intakes, to include the admission application process, advisement of the various educational benefits available to veterans and dependents, and directing veteran students concerning eligibility for benefits.
Works closely with Business Services in response to financial awarding and reconciliation of veteran educational benefits.
Serves as the liaison between AWC and the Veteran Community Partners. Represents AWC at various community veteran and military functions/events as appropriate. Maintains institutional and veteran data for reporting to AWC, community partners, and appropriate reporting agencies.
Coaches College staff on veteran educational policy and procedure and distributes timely updates. Maintains and updates official Student Services Policy/Procedures Manuals and College catalog pertaining to veteran educational benefits.
Assists the Outreach, recruitment and general marketing activities for veteran and military constituents.
Reviews student veteran files to insure all required documentation is included and maintained for compliance with VA regulations. Follows appropriate guidelines for document retention.
Serves on committees as assigned and attends appropriate staff meetings as College's veteran educational representative.
Performs other duties as assigned.
