SALARY:   $38,569 plus excellent fringe benefits.


QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Master’s degree in education or related field. Two years’ experience working with Hispanic and low-income students. Four years’ experience in personnel management. Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, including oral presentation skills. Demonstrates ability to work in a productive and independent manner with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds. Program oversight experience. Preferred: Fluent in Spanish with a background similar to the students served. Note: Position is grant-funded (PACTO Grant).


TYPICAL DUTIES:   Assists with the successful development of comprehensive support services grounded in AVID essentials that increase learning, persistence, completion and success as well as participating on the AVID Site Team. Aids with the successful development of AVID-based initiatives targeted at three distinct focus areas: students, faculty and campus culture. Provides direction in achieving AVID Essentials. Ensures integration of AVID skills into tutor training as well as ensuring tutors are trained and skilled in serving at-risk students. Serve as AVID Liaison, coordinate AVID site visits, and convene AVID Site Team required as part of the AVID model.

Assists in the development and implementation of AVID strategies on the AWC campus. Collaborates with NAU-Yuma Branch Campus staff to ensure seamless project supports and systematic change. Works with AWC, NAU-Yuma Branch Campus, and veteran/military programs to develop and implement systemic framework that addresses the goals of increased learning, persistence, completion, and success (in and) beyond college. Monitors project progress to ensure all efforts are in compliance with the grant.

Works closely with AWC project personnel on a day-to-day basis and works with the AWC and NAU-Y Branch Campus staff and faculty to ensure successful achievement of PACTO initiatives.

Works in cooperation with Transfer Services personnel and oversees renovation of AWC Transfer Center to ensure streamlining the delivery of advising, transfer, and other supportive services to be administered to at-risk students with coordinated services via a centralized location. Works with other campus resource personnel for greater synergy to support grant related outcomes.

Arranges, coordinates and oversees professional development workshops for educators and assists with hands‐on application in a classroom setting. Provides faculty and staff with materials and support for the implementation of AVID Essentials as well as ensuring campus-wide impact.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
