Olivia Zepeda was successful in her bid to represent Yuma District 4. Zepeda currently works as the Associate Superintendent of the Gadsden Elementary School District. Olivia represents District 4 with a population of 65,084 and includes west Yuma County, Somerton, San Luis and South Yuma County. Zepeda was elected to serve as Secretary to the District Governing Board for 2013 and 2014 and 2015. Olivia divides her time between her career as teacher and school administrator and volunteer service. She went to Northern Arizona University-Yuma to teach in multicultural education at the master's level before returning to Gadsden District where she has served for the past 11 years. Based on three decades of work in education, the Mexican consulate in Yuma selected Zepeda the 2012 recipient of the Ohtili Award which honors those who help create opportunities for residents of Mexican descent in the Yuma area.
